Jazz I: Students are working on single pirouettes landing in parallel first. Leaps, pas de bouree, chaines w/ arms, step ball change w/ arms are among the techniques to be mastered here. Dancers will need to be working on a full split on one side. The Jazz I combinations must be performed with considerable ease before moving on to Jazz I/II.
Jazz I/II: Dancers are working on single pirouettes landing in different positions, kicks to all 4 sides, leaps, chaines and piques, and tombe pas de bouree. The Jazz I/II combinations must be mastered before moving on to Jazz II.
Jazz II: Double pirouettes, leaps with arms, fan kicks, hitch kicks, and double piques are among the techniques practiced here. Students will need to be working on splits for 2 sides. A good performance of the Jazz II combinations is needed to move on to Jazz II/III.
Jazz II/III: Double pirouettes while changing arms and leg positions, side leaps, and toe touches are all techniques that will be mastered here. Students need to have full splits on all 3 sides, and the Jazz II/III combinations must be mastered before moving on to Jazz III.
Jazz III: Triple pirouettes, switch leg leaps, backward leaps, axles and tour jetes are among the techniques that will be in the repertoire for this class. The Jazz III combinations must be mastered before moving on to Jazz IV.
Jazz IV- V: Fouettes and switch leg center leaps will be mastered in this class. All techniques, no matter how advanced, are potential points of study.
