The ATRM faculty would like to thank you for your willingness to be an assistant instructor this year. We know it takes time out of your busy schedules, and we're very appreciative.
Our assistants play a very important role in the classroom. They are there to assist the instructor in whatever he/she may need. Some of the most common jobs of an assistant are:
There are various other jobs an assistant will have which vary by class and by teacher.
Being an assistant is beneficial for the instructors, but also for you! Each helper will receive a punch card every month for two free classes. It's a great opportunity for you to experience new styles of dance you might be interested in! Also, for those who will be helping with more than two classes a week, you will also receive $10 off each month's tuition. And in addition to the sheer fun of interacting with a class, you will be getting first hand experience in teaching. Even if you don't plan on being a dance instructor one day, you'll be getting invaluable experience working with children. If you do plan on continuing your dance career, being an assistant helps to further your dancing and teaching skills - skills an aspiring professional dancer needs.
All assistants will begin the year with a one month trial basis. Instructors need to see if the helper will be reliable, responsible, and well-suited for that particular class. The assistant plays such an important role in the classroom; we need to make sure we have the right people for the job! At the end of the month, we will be reviewing out assistants and will let you know our decisions as soon as they are made.
