Jamey was born in Joplin, MO where she began dance training at the age of 3. Jamey's family moved to Hutchinson, KS where she studied ballet and tap under Betsy Andrews. Jamey's family then settled in the Wichita area where Jamey studied many styles of dance at the Wichita School of Performing Arts, Wichita Children's Theatre and Dance Center, The Arts Quality in Dance, and Nancy Hervey School of Ballet. In the summer of 1997, Jamey studied in New York City at the famous Broadway Dance Center.
At age 12 Jamey joined Metropolitan Ballet of Wichita. With Metropolitan she performed in many performances including the Nutcracker (for seven years), Coppelia, La Fille Mal Gardee, Romeo and Juliet, and the Dance in the Park series. At 17, Jamey was made a soloist with the Company.
While pursuing a degree in elementary/ middle education at the University of Kansas, Jamey continued pursuing dance through KU's dance department. She studied advanced classes in ballet, jazz, and modern at KU.
Jamey is a 7th grade Communication Arts teacher at Monticello Trails Middle School in Shawnee. Jamey enjoys staying involved in dance by coaching cheerleading at MTMS and dancing with the Kansas City Panthers Diamond Girls semi professional cheer/dance squad. Jamey has recently completed her Master's degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Kansas. She is excited to share her love of dance with students of All the Right Moves!
